How to analyze tripadvisor reviews
Tripadvisor reviews cover hotels, vacation rentals, restaurants, and attractions. They are often written at the end of a trip, so they mix a room, a breakfast, a view, a taxi, and a front-desk story in one post. Property managers use them alongside booking-site scores because guests still read Tripadvisor before they commit.
We do not have a Tripadvisor Chrome extension. Tripadvisor does not offer a public "download every review" button on the listing. If you manage the property, use Tripadvisor Management Center (sometimes listed under owner tools) to read reviews and respond. Copy rating, title, body, stay date if shown, trip type, and your owner response into a spreadsheet.
Some property management systems already sync guest comments. If that export has a numeric rating and the review body, it is a valid file for this analyzer. We will not recommend unofficial Tripadvisor scrapers. They go stale, miss translations, and create terms risk you do not need for an internal ops review.
Columns to include: rating (Tripadvisor uses a 1 to 5 bubble scale, which this tool can treat like stars), review title, review text, review date, stay date, trip type (couple, family, business), and owner response. Rating and text are required. Stay date is more useful than review date when you are hunting a renovation month or a seasonality problem. Trip type stops you from treating a family noise complaint as a business-traveler workspace complaint.
Hotel insights: cleanliness, AC and noise, smell, pillows, water pressure, breakfast hours, parking, and "photo did not match the room." Location praise is common and not very actionable. "Elevator wait" and "room not ready" are. Attractions should watch queue time, staff, and whether the ticket price matched the experience. Restaurants on Tripadvisor overlap with Yelp themes: wait, food, service.
Watch language around renovation, new management, and season. A cluster of "outdated bathroom" reviews after you postponed a floor refresh is a capex signal. A summer spike of "pool too crowded" may be capacity, not housekeeping. Compare owner-response coverage: unanswered 1-bubble reviews on a travel site linger in search results.
Keep languages in mind. A mixed English and local-language file will split the same complaint into two themes. Prefer one language per pass, or translate before you upload if you need a single picture.
Upload the spreadsheet here. Analysis stays in the browser. Use the output for housekeeping briefings and capital planning, not as a fake testimonial wall.
