How to analyze google play reviews

Google Play reviews are Android user comments against your app listing. They often include a star rating, free text, device, app version, and a thumbs-up count. Because Android spans so many devices, a complaint that looks like "the app is broken" is sometimes "the app is broken on this one OEM skin."

We do not have a Google Play Chrome extension. You do not need one if you own the app. Play Console can export reviews. In Play Console, open the app, go to Ratings and reviews, and use Google's download or Cloud Storage export for reviews. That official CSV (or the reports you already drop in a bucket) is the file this page is for. It is the most honest source: you are the developer, and Google already packaged the data.

If you are not the developer, Play does not give you a public bulk dump of someone else's reviews. You can read the listing like any visitor. Building a large competitor file by scraping the Play Store is not something we help with, and we do not ship a Play scraper. Stick to apps you own, or to a modest sheet you typed yourself for research.

Columns in Play exports usually include rating, text, date, app version code or name, device, language, and thumbs up. Map rating and text for this analyzer. Keep version and device if they exist. A "black screen" theme on one Samsung family is an engineering ticket. The same theme on every device after a release is a rollback conversation. Language matters too. Do not mash translated and untranslated rows if you care about precise phrases.

Insights to extract: crashes and ANRs described in plain language, login and Play Billing errors, permission prompts, notification spam, battery, and "update ruined it." Watch reviews that mention a specific Android version. Pair the sheet with your Play vitals. Reviews will not replace crashlytics, but they explain what vitals cannot: confusion, pricing anger, missing features people expected from iOS.

Developer replies on Play are public. If your export includes reply text, you can see which complaint types already got a canned response. Canned responses that repeat while the theme volume stays flat mean the reply is not the fix.

Upload the Play CSV or Excel file here. Processing stays in the browser. We cannot publish a Play reply for you. Use Console for replies, and use this page to decide which crash, copy change, or device test to do first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I export Google Play reviews?

In Play Console, open Ratings and reviews and use Google's review download or Cloud Storage reports. Upload that CSV here. We do not have a Play Store extension.

Do I need to be the app owner?

The official export is for developers with Console access. This analyzer will read any CSV with rating and text, but we only recommend files you are allowed to have.

Why keep the device column?

Android issues often concentrate on a manufacturer, OS version, or tablet form factor. Dropping device makes those clusters disappear.

Is the Play CSV uploaded to Bozoma Labs?

No. It is parsed in your browser only.

Can this tool post a developer reply?

No. Reply in Play Console. Use the themes here to decide what to say and what to fix.
